Commencement Weekend Festivities
At Commencement, there will be an opportunity to purchase food and beverages, as well as make purchases from the University Bookstore. Families are encouraged to book hotels for commencement as early as possible. A list of recommended hotels is available here.
Commencement Awards & Traditions
As part of the ۿ۴ý tradition, we offer many unique opportunities to our graduating seniors.
Beaudry Award
In honor of Robert Beaudry ’50, the Beaudry Award is given each year at graduation to a student voted most deserving of the honor by their peers. The award recognizes outstanding service in four areas:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership
- Service to ۿ۴ý and/or the greater community
- Christian life
The Beaudry Award is the only student award given at graduation, with nominations held during the spring semester. Any student, faculty, administrator, or staff may nominate a graduating senior.

Millor Orator
In honor of the late Rev. William J. Millor, S.J. who served the university in a variety of posts over 28 years, representatives of the Senior Class each year designate a member of the graduating class to make a presentation at the annual commencement.

Baccalaureate Mass
The Baccalaureate Mass will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 on Hamlin Quad. Recognizing that St. Francis Chapel is a very special place on campus for many of our graduates, the chapel will be open for reflection throughout the weekend.
