Teacher education programs prepare candidates for careers in three licensure areas:

Integrated Curriculum

  • Foundations of education
  • Disciplinary content
  • Methods
  • Literacy

Field and Service Learning Experiences

  • From beginning of program
  • In diverse settings (preschool, school, and service agencies)
  • To learn and apply evidence-based and appropriate teaching practice

Professional Year

  • Yearlong experience in one school
  • Pre-student teaching, first semester
  • Student teaching, second semester

You’ll get valuable firsthand experience in area schools.

¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ education students learn by doing – and teaching. The University has built strong relationships with numerous nearby school districts, which means that you’ll have ample opportunities to observe and work directly with students and teachers in their classrooms. These valuable experiences begin as early as your first year in the program and continue through your student teaching year.

The Time is Now

According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, 10,600 teaching positions will open annually until 2022. By then, 37,760 additional teaching positions will be needed. Our next generation needs you, and ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ can help you answer the call.

Licensure Outcomes

Over the past four years, our teacher candidates have excelled on the Ohio licensure exams, outperforming their state counterparts with an average ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ pass rate of 93% compared to Ohio pass rate of 80%.
