The Frank and Frances Guinta Scholarships are for students who major in mathematics, computer science, or data science. Awards are based on financial need and academic performance.  They are intended to help outstanding students, either by being used to meet unmet financial need or to replace aid given in the form of loans.

Awards typically range from $1000 to $5000, depending on available funds.  The amount of each award will be determined by the Selection Committee, based on the criteria below.  Awards are for one year only, with half being dispersed each semester.  Recipients in one year may apply in subsequent years.  An award may be withdrawn following any semester in which a student's academic performance is judged unsatisfactory.

Selection factors:

  • Intention to major in Mathematics, Teaching Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Science with Healthcare Information Technology, or Data Science.
  • Recommendation of one or two professors in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
  • Quality of Academic Performance.
  • Financial need (including unmet need and loans) as determined by Student Enrollment and Financial Services.
