Does the Health Center offer any transportation services to facilities located off campus?
The Student Health Center has a medical van available to transport students to medical appointments, free of charge, within a five mile radius of our University. The hours of transport are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule transportation please call 216.397.4349.
How are emergencies handled?
A rescue squad is available for victims of major accidents or life threatening emergencies (dial 911). The ambulance will usually transport you to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. You are reminded that an emergency room is NOT to be used as a doctor’s office. If you are unsure about what to do, contact the Health Center for advice and counsel. If the Health Center is closed, contact ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ EMS (through the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ PD, 216.397.1234)Ìýor your R.A.
Does the Health Center provide class excuses?
Individual faculty members determine attendance policies. When you must be absent from class for medical reasons, it is your responsibility to inform your faculty members. Upon request, the Health Center will give a written note, validating the date you were seen in our clinic. This is not an excuse for missing class. This policy is in accordance with the HIPAA guidelines, which protects the privacy rights of each student.
If you are hospitalized or ill, or will miss several days of class, please contact the Student Health Center, the Office of Academic Advising or the Boler College Dean's Office, and they will guide you in ways to communicate the absence with your faculty. After you are released from the hospital, you will be asked to provide medical documentation.
