Academic Program Assistantships
Applicants can only apply for Graduate Assistant positions in the Academic Department of their program of study.ÌýIf your department is not listed, there are no openÌýAcademic Program positionsÌý(for example an Education major can not apply for a Business Academic Program Assistantship).
If you have applied to the M.S. in Biology, your academic program application is also your application for a graduate assistantship in the Biology Department. You do not need to complete a separate Graduate Assistant application. If admitted into the M.S. in Biology program, your assistantship will be in the Biology Department.
Job Summary: Department of Biology Graduate Assistant
The primary responsibility of each GA is to provide support as a teaching assistant in our laboratory courses, and in the maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide in-class and/or online instructional support for students and assist instructors in delivering course content; this will include any preparation required to demonstrate knowledge and competency in the subjects being presented in lab (e.g., studying lab material, attending lectures).
- Providing logistical support outside of regularly scheduled laboratory classes for setup and teardown of weekly laboratories.
- Preparation and grading of weekly pre-lab and in-class assessment.
- Assist in preparation, proctoring, set-up/tear-down, and grading of midterm and final exams for lectures and labs.
- Maintaining 2 office hours per week for undergraduates to seek assistance with assignments, lab reports, and preparation for examinations, for the lecture and laboratory courses to which the GA is assigned.
- Provide mentorship for our undergraduates, and to serve as role models for our students.
- Monitoring and reporting instances of bias to instructors and administration.
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities.
Depending upon the course, additional work for GAs may include:
- Coordinating work responsibilities with all other GAs assigned to a given section of lab.
- Preparing detailed dissections of anatomical material to use for in-class observations, quizzes, and examinations.
- Maintenance and care of live animals used in our laboratories.
- Maintenance and care of live plants in our greenhouse.
- Depending upon the laboratory course, GAs may be required to maintain van certification to drive university vehicles for short-distance transportation during some field-based laboratory courses.

Job Summary: Department of Counseling Graduate Assistant
Graduate assistants in the Department of Counseling are expected to support the research and scholarship of faculty members. Graduate assistants are also expected to help with recruiting/professional events as the Department of Counseling looks to expand and diversify its student enrollment and population. The ideal candidate will bring both professionalism and enthusiasm to this position as they gain professional and personal development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid faculty with research, including but not limited to: completing literature reviews, collecting data, analyzing data, and coding.
- Help with recruiting/professional events (may include some evening or weekend attendance).
- Assist with updating site directories for practicum and internship sites, as well as other Department of Counseling forms as needed.

Graduate assistants are not required to have set working hours on the weekends but may be asked to help with events that take place on the weekends or they may need to work independently on the weekends in order to complete tasks. Job Summary: Campus Ministry Office - Graduate Assistant/Resident Minister
The Graduate Assistant/Resident Minister is an important part of the University’s Campus Ministry program and represents the Campus Ministry Department in the Residence Halls. They work in collaboration with their supervisory campus minister to integrate faith with campus social and academic life. They establish an active religious presence in residential areas, and encourage faith development and religious practice in the lives of students. This graduate student serves as a resource for students of all religious traditions and lends support and strength to the programs and activities of the campus ministry department and the residential students.
Expectations of the Graduate Assistant/Resident Minister:
- Plan at least one major Campus Ministry program per semester
- Plan and implementÌýhall-based programs
- Meet weekly with the GA/Resident Ministry team
- Meet weekly with the Campus Ministry staff
- Campus Ministry supervision on a bi-weekly basis
- Availability for evening and weekend programming
- Regular presence at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ dining facilities
- Area Coordinator check-in on a monthly basis
- Mandatory training program in August, a mid-year and end of the year evaluation
- Participate in and help with Sunday worship (6pm or 10pm), and all major university liturgies

Job Summary: Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion- First Generation Blue Streak Program Graduate Assistant
The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) is seeking a full-time GA to provide direct services to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in order for them to become successful and fully engaged in all aspects of their educational experience at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½. The GA is responsible for several on-going and short-term projects that advance the vision of the Center.ÌýÌý
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of the programs and initiatives that provide support and advocacy for students who are the first in their families to attend college.Ìý
- Responsible for the budget that helps operationalize the program, which includes programming and support services.Ìý
- Supervise an undergraduate intern for the First Generation Blue Streak Program.
- Develop weekly and monthly programming aimed at addressing issues impacting first-generation students, especially sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
- Assist the Director in evaluating the program at the end of the year.Ìý
- Provide advising for Cultural Student Organizations by reinforcing the cultural identity and leadership skill development of the multicultural student organizations connected to CSDI.Ìý
- Record and help student leaders evaluate programming.
- Co-responsible for the $10,000 Community Development Activity budget used for small-scale cultural student organization programming; track expenditures, ordering, and purchase reconciliations.Ìý

Job Summary: Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion- MELT Peer Mentoring Program Graduate Assistant
The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) is seeking a full-time GA to provide direct services to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in order for them to become successful and fully engaged in all aspects of their educational experience at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½. The GA is responsible for several on-going and short-term projects that advance the vision of the Center.ÌýÌý
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of the programs and initiatives that provide support and advocacy for students who are first generation, low income, LGBTQ+, and/or students of color.Ìý
- Responsible for the $30,000 that help operationalize the program, which include compensation, programming, and support services.Ìý
- Supervise and develop a team of 30+ Peer Mentors and evaluate performance each semester.Ìý
- Supervise an undergraduate intern for the MELT program.Ìý
- Develop weekly and monthly programming aimed at addressing issues impacting first year students, specifically mentees in the program.Ìý
- Assist the Assistant Director in evaluating the program during and at the end of the year.Ìý
- Research and benchmark the program with peer colleges and universities at the local, state, and national level.

Job Summary: Residence Life Graduate Assistant
The Office of Residence Life is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2024-2025 academic year to engage in the development of the residential experience. This 20-hour/week assistantship will include the following responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a residential community ofÌýapproximately 175-300 students living in one residence hall
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate 5-7 Resident Assistants (RAs), including 1 Senior RA
- Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with individual RAs and facilitate weekly staff meetings
- Oversee the planning and implementation of all programming and community development initiatives within the residence hall
- Advise and guide RAs on appropriate student and floor interventions
- Collaborate with campus partners to intervene with and support students of concern and students at-risk, including mediating elevated roommate conflicts
- Manage budget lines for community building, programming, and staff development
- Contribute to Office of Residence Life processes, which may include housing operations, training, recruitment and selection
- Because of the nature of this position, some hours may be worked on nights and during weekend
- This position will begin early-August so a successful candidate may participate in RA Training. This position will also extend in May to accommodate residence hall closing. More details will be provided during interview process.

The Wellness Center is seeking a GA to assist the Assistant Director of Student Wellbeing.Ìý The graduate assistant is a paraprofessional employee of the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ University Division of Student Affairs. - Assist with creating and updating marketing and social marketing materials for Student Wellness that includes the website, Instagram, and other office materials.Ìý

- Responsible for implementation of on-campus initiatives as well as social norming campaigns to reduce stigma surrounding health and wellness behaviors of college students.ÌýÌý
- Ensure that the Student Wellness Center has appropriate resources (up to date information and supplies).
- Serve on campus wide committees for health and wellness initiatives on campus.Ìý
- Provide wellness coaching to undergraduate students on issues such as stress, substance abuse, and relationships.
- Meet with students after incidents involving alcohol or other drugs and using motivational interview practices.
- Maintain FERPA compliance and integrity of academic policies and procedures including Title IX.
Required Qualifications
